Hello everyone and welcome to Debbie’s Daily Tips and today we’re going to talk about call reluctance.
So, feeling uncomfortable making the call to people that you know specifically and asking directly for a referral. So were going to talk about calling the people you know. Now, if you’re experiencing this feeling it’s rather normal. Many of our clients tell me that they feel that way. But I want you guys to consider something, I want you to think about someone you do business with, maybe it’s your dentist, your doctor, your hair dresser.
I’ll give you a small example, there’s this lady who does my nails and she is an unbelievable worker. First of all she’s really good at what she does and she works from 7am to 7pm. She’s just amazing and professional and texts you and reminds you of your appointment.
Now would it bother me at all if she said you know Debbie I have a little space in my calendar, who do you know that might need my help? Of course it wouldn’t bother me. You know if you have a great vendor that you use and work with and they go above and beyond to take great care of you, would you be offended if they mentioned that they really valued and appreciated your referral? Of course not!
Why do you think that the people you take such good care of, that you helped changed their life, why would you think that they would be offended to talk to you? Look at it this way it really doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s business, everybody needs to make money.
But here is what I would suggest, work on your mindset just a little bit today, let’s remember how valuable and knowledgeable you are and then create a theme, put some information together, some reason to call them that you really feel is value-added and helpful. Then you call and ask for a referral.
Remember, many of you get most of your business from the people you know. Think about how much more you’d get if you actually called and asked for it.
Have a great day and we’ll talk to you soon.
